University of Pennsylvania dissertation
Academic
Follows the Penn Libraries' University of Pennsylvania Ph.D. Dissertation LaTeX Template (Lauren Gala, Penn Libraries, CC BY 4.0), which the Office of the Provost links, and the Graduate Division's dissertation formatting rules (PhD Dissertation Formatting Guide); where the two differ, the rules are followed. A doctoral dissertation (Doctor of Philosophy) in English, on US Letter paper with 1 inch margins, with the title page with the supervisor, the graduate group chairperson and the committee (also with a co-supervisor, a second chairperson and a field of specialization), an optional copyright or Creative Commons page, dedication, acknowledgment and preface, the abstract, the table of contents, the lists of tables and illustrations, double spacing, chapter titles in capitals, the appendices before the bibliography and author-year citations, without the University's shield. The changes to the original, listed in the template's header, concern how the details are entered, smaller spaces on the title page for a long title, chapter titles always in capitals and the lists of tables and illustrations only when the text has tables or figures (both after the rules), the bibliography in the document's citation style, and landscape pages, which the template leaves out.
